The GIS viewer: the User’s Manual

How to run the application

To run the GIS viewer, no additional components need to be installed: a standard Internet viewer is sufficient for this purpose.

IMPORTANT! To use all the service functionalities, you must enable pop-ups on this site. Pop-up windows contain additional forms to make queries about the database and answers to these queries.

The viewer is located at:

http://baza.pgi.gov.pl/website/cbdg

When the main page is loaded, the map with a default set of layers is shown as presented above. The application uses ‘cookies’, which enables you to load the viewer and see the same set of layers as was displayed during your last visit on the site.

How it functions

The map window

The layer menu is displayed on the right, with special buttons Layer information that help you to get information about each layer. At the very bottom of the menu, there is an important note concerning some layers:
Please zoom to the area of your interest to display the objects. The layer contains a substantial number of data and, otherwise, generating the map would take a longer while.

You can display an information layer by ticking the Visible layer field. To get additional information about objects on a given layer, tick the field Active layer to set Layer active. Then, click the ‘Refresh’ buttons (one above the layer menu, the other below the tool menu) to confirm the operation:
Refresh map or Refresh map .

The map will be refresh in the main window

Selecting information layersThe example shows that the Cities layer is both active and visible, the Borders of Poland layer is only visible (not active), while the Provinces layer is not visible. It is not possible to make several layers active at the same time.

When you click the button on the tool menu on the left, the layer menu will be hidden and the displayed legend will illustrate the layers that are currently viewed.

How to order maps: SMGP, MHP, MGGP/MGP

The following instructions will help you to order following maps: SMGP, MHP, MGGP/MGP but this only works in a special version of the application available at: http://bazagis.pgi.gov.pl/website/dystrybucja. Choose the appropriate map layer. The layer should be visible and active. The completion and availability status of particular map sheets are marked with different colours.
To mark the chosen map sheets, use one of the selection tools:  Mark Feature Select by Line/Polygon Select by Rectangle . The information window under the map will then display information about the sheets you have marked. After you have selected all the needed maps, finalise the transaction by clicking the Add maps to basket button.

All the selected map sheets will be shown in a new pop-up form. If necessary, you can still delete a map sheet from the list. After clicking the Order button, you will see a new pop-up window with a list of ordered map sheets and their prices. Here, you should indicate what additional documents you would like to order, for example: maps, reports on maps and their digital versions. You are also prompted for your name and address details. Click the Submit button and you will now be shown another pop-up window with your final order, complete with the documents, prices and your personal data. You are still able to modify your order, print it and send it by e-mail to inform us about the order you are going to place.

To add new maps to the basket, first click the Clear Form and Return button.
